Yin
Yin defined in plain English—the receptive, resting, inward quality in I Ching and feng shui philosophy.

Yin (阴) describes the receptive, cool, dark, inward, and resting side of complementary pairs. It is not "negative" or " feminine" in a simplistic sense—it is one half of dynamic balance with yang.
Examples
- Night, winter, shade, silence
- Listening, waiting, nurturing
- Broken lines in I Ching hexagrams
In Practice
Too much yin in a space: dim, unused, sluggish. Too little: nowhere to rest. Balance matters.
